The Beaphar Gentle Leader® is a unique and patented design that works by mimicking the natural muzzle grab, which more confident and higher-ranking dogs, and other canine species, perform in their pack. Walking on a lead is a skill that needs to be learnt, and a dog's natural instinct is to pull against something that is applying restraint. Gentle pressure is transferred to the back of the neck, naturally stimulating a relaxation response (similar to when a mother carries a puppy by the scruff of its neck). 2.
