If the night time really is the right time to be with the one you love, then, anytime now we will be seeing lots of people out walking with their K9 companions in the dark. This poses a few problems for our furry friends.
Walking in the street brings our first problem, how visible are we, and our dogs, to road traffic?
The answer is, usually, not very. So, how to remedy this. The advances in hi-viz technology have been very well utilised in the pet industry. Lightweight, breathable, durable hi-viz fabric is now widely used in dog coats, collars and tags, as well as the use of light reflecting materials to reflect car headlights. Reflective striping on some dog leads are also useful to show car drivers that the dog they can see is attached to a person and is less likely to do something unplanned, like walk into the road.
Then you get to the park, or the woods or field
and your dog gets the chance to run about off the lead and so comes problem number two. Hi-Viz and reflective material only work when there is a light source to show up the hi-viz or reflect off of the reflective material.
Unfortunately, lots of the best places to let dogs off their leads can often be poorly lit. Once again technology comes to our aid with some state of the art equipment. The LEUCHTIE collar is a 100% waterproof with bright LEDs Dotted along the length of the collar. Engineered in Germany these collars have patented technology which means there are no switches or buckles to mess about with, just put the Leuchtie over your dogs head and it switches on. Then when you get home you slide off the Leuchtie hang it up and it switches off. How bright is that?
The Leuchtie is powered by two AA batteries, so running costs are very low.
If light up collars are not your thing then there we stock a fantastic range of flashing lights to hang from your dog's regular collar or harness. All of these things will give you dog plenty of visibility and to avoid any confusion, if you have more than one dog, most of these products come in different colours.
So, that is problem two knocked on the head.
there is no pretending
with darkness descending
our walkies won't be as much fun
we can't play our game
and it won't be the same
as the games that we play in the sun
the sniffing of trees
recognition of wees
and adding our smell to the rest
won't tire us out
or make our tongue lol about
and it won't give our muscles a test
so what can be done
to make night walks more fun
and to get dogs to run in the park
make them chase at top speed
I know what we need
we need toys that will GLOW IN THE DARK
The Max-Glow range of toys take just 5 minutes in the light to give up to 30 minutes of glowing fun. Bright enough to see, tough enough to last.
