Back in 1929 Ernest Robinson was working as a butcher in Newcastle's Grainger Market. One day Ernest went to the Corn Merchant in the Market to collect some bird seed that he had ordered.
" I'm sorry" the girl in the Corn Merchant said, " We forgot to order your seed"
Ernest was disappointed and told the assistant that this would not have happened if he owned the store, " my staff would make sure that customer service was our highest priority"
The assistant told Ernest that he had the opportunity to prove his point as the Corn Merchant store was up for sale.
So Ernest Robinson gathered his savings and borrowed some money and bought the Corn Merchant store in the Grainger Market, and so began ROBINSON'S PET STORE.
